clay
“…suppose I were to describe to a person who was entirely ignorant of the subject the way in which a lump of clay is made into a beautiful vessel. I tell him first the part of the clay in the matter; and all I can say about this is that the clay is put into the potter’s hands, and then lies passive there, submitting itself to all the turnings and over-turnings of the...

A Quick Recap On The Last 20 Minutes Of My Life
For some reason, i haven’t gone to bed yet. It is currently 6:04am. And i am wide awake.
With this whole ‘not being able to sleep’ thing, combined with the recent request for a phone charger made by one of my coworkers, who works today from 430am to 915am, I decided i should just get out of the house, drive over to work and drop it off for him. So drive off i did.
...
Only at 3 a.m.
Sometimes I think it would be so cozy to have the ability to instantly transform myself into a little bug, that way i could fall asleep tucked into a matchbox with a cotton ball as a pillow. But then I suppose if i was that small, I’d see the matchbox and cotton ball as boring because they were my size, and I would wish I was even smaller, like a dot, who could live inside a dust particle,...
phlegmatic
being indecisive is a curse….
…
maybe.
pitter patter
1. this earl grey tea is like my own personal rainstorm in a cup.
2. after hours of searching the four corners of the internet, in hopes of finding some droplet to quench this thirsty traveler’s need for more passport stamps….i finally received a glittery glimmer of glistening hope.
yay.

at 4:50am this chilly winter wednesday morning, the doorbell rang and on our front porch stood a drunk elderly man who said, “Can i have two quarters? I’m an ex-marine.”

october 10.
With burning proof
I’ve ostracized the mess.
Look close into the deep ravine
and try to find
a place where pain cannot impose.
it does not exist.
Tragedy has summoned me
from this unconscious state,
and how tight my grip
around the grief does hold.
But it’s just mortal material.
This alone should compel a paper soul
to respond with finesse
before the collective groan

Fertile is the mimicry
I raise my hand
and thus accept the blame.
Let our texting little fingers
spell out the code of conduct
for this game.
And I’ve chosen to accumulate
reasons to abort
the technique bestowed
with favor
on the heads of those
who won’t
let themselves give in.
Our matchbox dreams
are reappearing
with no end
to their reminding -
re-establishing the...
get out.
a feel the prescence of a beetle
his claws
are scratching up my throat
he’s been held captive
far too long
he’s yet to see
the gleaming light
of sun.
maybe
if i try
to rearrange his room
and lie
about what’s going on
outside
he won’t attempt
to find
a good escape.
october 7.
Arms held out,
she shouts her woes;
they fall like rain
and disappear
into the earth.
Up sprout weeds
of childish lows;
flower the pain,
she soon forgets
the origin
of birth.

mothballs swarm and
eat away my sleeves.
their tiny teeth are nibbling,
subtracting the length of my arm’s reach.
and so i begin
to build a bridge
brick by brick
better
make it
quick.
you know you live in orange county, when . . .
Woman #1: Oh my gosh I love your sweater!
Woman #2: Thank you so much, i love it too!
Woman #1: Where did you buy it?
Woman #2: I got it at Nordstrom and it was actually really cheap! Only $48.00!
Woman #1: Wow! That's soooo cheap!

my twin
Tonight, at church, a woman approached me and asked where I was born. I told her “Right across the street, at that hospital.” She replied, “Oh, well, when I walked into the room tonight and you turned around, I nearly passed out because you look so much like a friend of mine, it’s eerie.” She then proceeded to tell me about this friend of hers who grew up in San...
at work one day.
Me: Good morning, sir, what can I get for you?
Obese man in tie-dye shirt: A new pair of legs!
Looking back, it wasn’t worth it to call home from Budapest 3 separate times because I was scared my plane was going to crash. Especially now that I know each phone call was $50. And especially now that I know my plane didn’t crash. regret regret regret.
